Oh, welcome to my page!
My name is Brandi!
I love Mario Bros and Staaar Wars!
I'm your typical video game nerd and sci fi geeeeek!
And if you don't like that...
That's just your problem!
So, take a look around, I promise it woooon't bite
Because my page is such a siiiiiiiight!
How I felt today, for some weird reason.
I said I would nerd-talk about them. I kept my promise.
So, I pre-ordered Super Mario Galaxy 2 AND I WAAAANNNTTT ITTTT. Super Mario Galaxy was the best game I have ever played in my life. I have read comments on YouTube that people who had played the demo version of Super Mario Galaxy 2 have said it’s better than the first, which is saying a lot. I really hope that the music made in SMG2 is the same as the first. I hear a little snip of “Gusty Garden Galaxy” in the trailer, which makes me smile. Next month it comes out. I can hardly wait!
I also looked at the new Metroid game in my free time. Metroid: Other M. I’m not sure about why it’s called Other M but I’ve never played a single Metroid game in my life, so whatever. The graphics for the cutscenes look gorgeous, but I’m not sure about everything else. The gameplay looks nice, and the fighting style looks extreme but one YouTube user complained that it looked too playful in a way. Again, I’ve never played a Metroid game so I wouldn’t know. Samus seems to gain a personality in the game and a voice. I’m half-half about it. Part of me is happy because we get to know Samus and descibe her more than a “silent bounty hunter”. Part of me is disapproving because when Samus is silent and we are playing as her, it makes us feel more like Samus and putting ourselves in her shoes. I’ll just have to see how it goes.
And for those Star Fox fans, I hear a Star Fox Wii is coming out. Just a rumor but will shed some light.
Well, all I can say about VGs. Nice knowin’ ya guys.

There should be a law saying you’re only allowed to release a trailer for a movie if it’s 3 months away.
Ahem, well, with that aside, I’m ready to talk about upcoming movies. Some of these contains spoilers, just so ya know.
I just watched How To Train Your Dragon from DreamWorks, and it was a really good movie. I didn’t want to see it at first because more than once DreamWorks has disappointed me (Shrek 3, Shark Tale, Madagascar(Just the first one)) more than once, so I was a bit hesitate about seeing this one. My dad made me go though, and I do not regret it. It was a wonderful movie that was charming and funny. It was visually stunning. The music was really nice and helped better put emotion into the scenes. I then went on the internet to look at the reviews and was happy to see it got a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, though the ones that were not so positive made me wonder a bit. One person had described HTTYD as “Avatar for simpletons”, and I had to disagree. I haven’t watched Avatar, so I don’t know much about it, but you shouldn’t just call HTTYD Avatar just because the both are visually stunning. From what I know, the storyline from both the movies are not the same. Last time I checked, Avatar is about this place on a planet called Pandora and people want to destroy the forest and villages and stuff but the natives there, who are called the Na’vi, are like “Oh, fuck you. We were here first.” and then they fight and the people who want to destroy the forest and village lost. How To Train Your Dragon is about a young viking boy who at first wants to kill dragons, but then after realizing what dragons really were like, he wants to be friends instead. But his father wants him to kill them, like all Vikings. Yet, in the end, vikings and dragons come together as one. Na’vi and vikings. Not really any similarities there. You shouldn’t call both movies the same just because they both are really great in 3D. Just sayin’.
Now for Toy Story 3. I would freakin jump off a cliff just to see that movie. I grew up with Toy Story and Toy Story 2 (Sadly, when moving to Washington, damn movers broke my TS2 movie, but they paid for it and I was able to get another one for like, 90 cents). When I was younger, I honestly used to think my toys would come to life…(cough) So, I first saw a poster for Toy Story 3 and I thought “Whoa! They’re coming out with another one! I must watch!”. I like the first trailer better than the second one, because the first one makes it feel like an actual Pixar movie. The second one made it seem like a DreamWorks movie. I don’t hate DreamWorks, just that there’s a charm in Pixar that DreamWorks doesn’t have. So far, it looks really good but the “ass-cot” joke Barbie makes in the second trailer honestly gets me worried. But, John Lassester is working on it, and so is the person who directed Monster’s Inc and I think either Wall-E or Finding Nemo. The staff at Pixar had never let us down (not counting Cars because that was still a good movie), so I keep telling myself to mask up the worry-ness. Only two months away…I can wait that long…
Let’s see for the other movie trailers…When going to see HTTYD, we saw a trailer for a movie called “MegaMind” that my dad wants to see. It has Will Ferrel in it and Brad Pit and Tina Fey. I thought the jokes were a bit on the down-level, and the comments on the trailer on YouTube were mostly negative. But hey, it was only 47 seconds long. What are you going to judge from that? And Shrek Forever After, or Shrek 4 I’m a bit shaky on. Me and my dad both agreed that the trailer wasn’t that funny, and Shrek The Third was kinda disappointing compared to the other two. But, again, it’s just a trailer. You can’t judge much from a trailer. But anyways, before I see a movie, I am going to look on the internet to see the ratings it got so I can feel more confident in seeing it.
Yay for movies. One day it shall be video games.
By the way, does anyone think people will get “How To Train Your Dragon Depression Syndrome”?. ;)
I will NOT upload anything to “Brandi Land”.
That place was a mistake. I accidently made it while I was still experimenting with stuff on tumblr. Everything will be posted onto “my blog”. Brandi Land is a dead land now. The only thing I have actually uploaded there was a notice saying that it was a place I’m not going to be updating anytime soon. I would delete it, but the only way to do that would be to delete my whole account, and I don’t want to do that.
So, that’s all I wanted to say.
(Posted on Rotton Tomatoes)
When I went to go see this movie, I thought I would be amazed. Shrek was a really good movie, and Shrek 2 was even better for me, so I had high hopes for this movie. When I walked out of the cinema, though, my smile had diappeared.
Shark Tale was hardly enjoyable in my tastes. There were a few parts where I chuckled slightly, but the rest seemed very dull with no charm. This movie is filled with pop culture jokes that only higher aged people will be able to get. Shark Tale would really make no sense to a younger kid.
The story also had no charm about it that you would really love. In Finding Nemo, a similar movie, the charm was that a father and son have a sort of bad relationship in the beginning of the movie due to the father’s over-protective nature, then when the son gets kidnapped and the father has to travel thousands of miles to find him and they finally reunite, their relationship starts to rebuild and the father learns to stop being so protective. That could really tug at your heart strings. But in Shark Tale, only a few faint tugs can be heard. The storyline in Finding Nemo is enough to make a person get teary eyes and (possibly?) cry, but the storyline in Shark Tale is so over-filled with pop culture parodies that much of the real supposed charm that Dreamworks was trying to go for is blurred.
Another problem with the story line is that it would be hard to follow for kids. Younger kids won’t be able to understand the gold-digger effect around Lola and how it’s damaging the friendship between Oscar and Angie. They also won’t get the pop-culture jokes, like I said earlier, because little kids really like a movie that’s sweet, filled with jokes that they find funny, and easy to follow. I know, because I have the mind of a little kid. I don’t really see how Shark Tale is aimed at the younger audience when the elements in it are meant for the older ages. An example is when Oscar is trying to do some hand-slap with Sykes, and then explains to him “Hey, don’t sweat it. A lot of white fish can’t do it.” This is giving the sterotype of whites and blacks in this world and putting it in the movie. Younger minds don’t get it because they very most likely don’t understand the sterotypes of races in this world. How are kids supposed to know what he means by “white fish”?
As for the other jokes, some of them were so stupidly dull that they were more of a disappointed frown than smiling laugh.
I guess I can’t look at all the negative things. As mean as I might be sounding towards Shark Tale, there were some things I really did like. I like how they portrayed the coral reef as a big city. It was very colorful and lively, and could even amaze some people. And I had mentioned earlier that some of jokes, as pop as they may be, did make me laugh a bit. But of course, I got them because I was older and have a more mature mind. Little kids…not so much.
So, in conclusion? Don’t expect much from this movie. You’re better off watching other underwater themed kid movies such as “Finding Nemo” or the maybe “The Little Mermiad” series.
Sorry if this review sucked, I’m horrible at reviews.
